Sports Therapy 2 You Ltd.

Now we can admire this dodgy tan ☀️, however this post actually is looking at the impact of muscle mass comparisons. In this image there is a significant difference between the 2 sets of quads. On the left hand side you can more width and increased definition compared to the right hand side. This can be caused from previous injuries, lack of rehabilitation, or just the case of increased use of opposing side without realising 🤷‍♂️.

This observation is an example used during our injury assessment process. In this case scenario, right knee pain and discomfort has been experienced whilst running and had a football background. You can look around the routes of patella tendonitis, tight hips or increased running intensity for the reason of the pain. Muscle mass comparison can also be significant to why pain symptoms are being felt. Running has a lot of impact on our joints and reduced muscle mass can influence the protection given to the knee whilst running. Increased muscle mass protects your knee and reduces the stress caused on your joint. Make sense?
